The amended and supplemented law consists of five chapters and 78 articles.

This law was adopted in April Juche 75 (1986) and revised several times.

It has contributed to further beautifying the country's appearance, promoting the people's health and providing them with hygienic and cultured living environment and labor conditions by establishing a strict system and order for environment management, preservation and creation of natural environment and prevention of environment pollution.
