Among them is a song "Victory Mill on Jiktong Pass" singing of the struggle of ordinary rural women who materially and morally assisted servicepersons on the front during the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953).

Soksa-ri in Kumgang County at the foot of Jiktong Pass was the main traffic route passing through the foot of Height 1211 in the east of the front.

Women of the ri turned out as one in the wartime food production and the work for assisting the front.

They plowed paddy and non-paddy fields and sowed seeds despite the enemies' air strike.

Though the enemies' bombardment continued day after day, they cultivated crops at the risk of their lives, saying "One grain of rice means one bullet!"

They hulled the grains as soon as they harvested them and carried them to the front by crossing Jiktong Pass in the teeth of the enemies' bombardment. They also organized a death-defying corps to carry munitions, shells and injured people.

As seen above, women of Soksa-ri bravely fought in the indomitable spirit of defending the country until the war victory day.

Even now, women of the DPRK love to sing the song "Victory Mill on Jiktong Pass".

Kang Hui Ok, a woman living in Moranbong District, Pyongyang, said that the song helps her feel the noble spiritual world of many sung and unsung women who reliably defended the rear of the country in the days of the hard-fought war.
