Innovations Seen in Sericulture and Silk Industry
Pyongyang, June 26 (KCNA) -- On the basis of the successes and experience gained in the first half of the year, officials in the field of sericulture and silk industry meticulously organize innovative economic operations to carry out the struggle goals set for the second half of the year, true to the decisions made at the historic Third Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Officials and workers in sericulture and silk industry are making achievements through a vigorous campaign to successfully carry out this year's plans during the first half of the year.

The Sericulture and Silk Industrial Bureau analyzed the progress in its work for the first half yearly plan in the idea and spirit of the historic plenary meeting.

It laid down the tasks for the second half of the year on the principle of developing the successes and experience gained in the first half of the year and taking prompt measures against deviations.

All the officials ideologically accepted the Party's intention in having held the recent plenary meeting and studied the decisions made there intensively.

In this course, they discussed the ways to register bigger successes in production, including the ways to increase the production of mulberry leaves and raise the level of specialization and scientification in silkworm breeding farms and the ways to breed silkworms safely in unfavorable weather and proactively step up technical preparations for developing diverse new products with domestic resources.

They took measures to raise the extraction rate and quality of silk threads by introducing advanced technology, regarding science and technology as a key link in the chain efforts for development. Steps were also taken to build a sci-tech research centre and train technicians.
