Pyongyang, June 29 (KCNA) -- The 3rd Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) adopted a resolution on unconditionally fulfilling the grain production plan by concentrating efforts of the entire Party, the whole army and all the people on the farming for this year. The agricultural officials and workers in the DPRK have turned out in the struggle to implement this important resolution. They are now bringing about good results in the weeding campaign by following the working spirit and trait of the exemplary and heroic peasants in the periods of the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953) and the postwar reconstruction. The exemplary and heroic peasants of the preceding generation increased the yield of grains in a do-or-die spirit during the war and laid a foundation for the development of rural economy on the war debris. Among them were a person who gathered 15 tons of grains in a little over one hectare of paddy and dry fields a year even under the difficult situation of the war, a forerunner of the plow-woman movement in the country who contributed to the increased food production during the war, and a woman peasant who produced plenty of grains in wartime by actively introducing advanced farming methods like the cold-bed rice seedlings. At that time, President Kim Il Sung praised those bumper croppers as servicepersons in the home front. After the war, the patriotic peasants had taken the lead in the work to implement the WPK's policy on agricultural cooperativization, fully displaying its validity and vitality. Ri Myong Suk, chairperson of the Management Board of the Songo Cooperative Farm in Sinchon County, South Hwanghae Province, told KCNA: The tradition of patriotism and loyalty, created by the preceding generations at the cost of their blood and sweat, is a precious tradition that should be carried forward by the present generation. All the agricultural workers have turned out to hit this year's target of grain production without fail. |
