Preparations for Disastrous Weather Brisk in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 3 (KCNA) -- The fishery sector is directing its efforts into the work for minimizing the damage by disastrous weather phenomena like typhoon, tidal wave and flood that frequently hit the country in recent years.

Officials of the Ministry of Fisheries and relevant units call for guarding against indolence, carelessness and loophole-seeking in the work for preventing the damage by the disastrous weather this year.

They, in contact with maritime administration organs at all levels, meticulously conduct the organizational work for pinpointing the evacuation areas for vessels in case of a storm warning.

Different fisheries on the eastern coast introduced effective building methods into pushing ahead with the project for reinforcing coastal structures to minimize the damage by typhoon and tidal wave.

They also see to it that those fisheries overhaul their vessels in time and ensure their mobility to flexibly tackle any disastrous weather, guided by the natural disaster warning and information system.

Fishery stations under the fishery management bureaus in North Phyongan, South Phyongan and South Hwanghae provinces carried out the work for reinforcing and repairing the tide-water control dykes and piers to ensure the safety of production buildings, unloading equipment and fishing boats at wharves.

Aquaculture units are putting efforts into keeping their equipment firmly tied up so that they would not be sunk, washed away and broken by tidal wave.

Other fish farms across the country take practical measures to breed fish, unaffected by seasonal change.
