In the early 1960s, the Korean people, who opened the heyday of construction amid the hot wind of the great Chollima upswing after the Fatherland Liberation War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953), built a modern large-scale vinalon factory in a little over one year and thus created the vinalon speed, a new speed in industrial construction.

At that time, the construction of the factory was the largest industrial project in the country.

Always being concerned about the people's clothing problem, President Kim Il Sung put up a militant slogan "Everything for the Construction of Vinalon Factory!" and aroused all the people to the construction of the factory when the study on the industrialization of vinalon production was completed.

After forming 200-odd shock brigades, the builders erected 30-odd large production buildings, installed more than 15,000 machines and devices, and laid pipes extending over 500 kilometers by working hard day and night.

They even carried out the removal of 10,000 cubic meters of earth, the concrete tamping of hundreds of cubic meters and the laying of more than 100,000 bricks in one night. And they erected a 40-meter-high chimney only in 13 days and a 20-meter-high rectifying tower in 10 days.

They also laid pipes extending 28 kilometers in a day and finished in a matter of 28 days a huge sewage project, the construction of which would take six months at an ordinary pace.

In the course, a vinalon speed was created.

The President visited the completed factory on May 6, Juche 50 (1961) and highly appreciated the feats of its builders who performed miracles in construction of the Chollima age, and saw to it that the factory was named the February 8 Vinalon Factory (at that time).

Carrying forward the tradition of loyalty and achievements established by the vinalon speed creators, the workers of the February 8 Vinalon Complex are now making innovations in the production of chemical goods to implement the tasks set forth at the 8th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the plenary meetings of the WPK Central Committee.
