This four-volume book was edited by Ri Jung Hwan, a realistic scholar and geographer, in the first half of the 18th century. It is also called "Jinyusungram", "Sansurok", "Chonghwa", etc.

The first volume deals with the birth, development and characters of all estates of the nation like scholars, farmers, artisans and merchants in combination with geographical conditions.

The second volume historically outlines Korea's geographical position in the Asiatic Continent and its relations with neighboring countries, geographical features of the country and positions of its eight provinces, history, composition of the inhabitants, economy, culture, cities and villages.

The third volume tells about the problems related to the selection of residential districts divided into such items as geography and mountains and waters, and the fourth volume about why the book was compiled.

The classical book "Thaekriji" is a precious national treasure as it played a vanguard role in the development of Korea's modern geography.
