Ten thousand and thousands of trees of good species and many flowers have been planted in every nook and cranny of the streets in the city this year, sprucing up the mountainous city.

Lots of white birch, picea Koraiensis and syringa amurensis loved so much by Chairman Kim Jong Il were planted around his statue and in the area of Kwangmyongsong-dong. They help the city preserve its sublimity as the sacred place of the sun and its characteristics as the mountainous city at the center of the natural forests of Mt Paektu.

The greening of the city conforms to the multifarious layouts of dwelling houses, public service network and public buildings as it is adorned with flower beds and planters bursting with various kinds of blossoms of high ornamental value. Commercial and public catering service units also arranged planters of various shapes, giving pleasant feelings to visitors.

The Samjiyon Blueberry Drink Factory made its compound attractive with the arrangement of flower beds suited to the features of the industrial district and an excellent resting place for workers.

The city is actively promoting the work for raising flowers and flower shrubs of good species for its long-term afforestation.
