Remains of Martyrs Buried in Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery

Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) -- Remains of martyrs Pak Chan Su and Pak Jong Won, heroes of the Republic, were buried in the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery with due ceremony on July 15 ahead of the 68th anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. During the war, Pak Chan Su, who was awarded the precious title of a young heavy machine gunner on Height 1211 from President Kim Il Sung, took over "the Minchong" heavy machine gun associated with Hero Jo Kun Sil's feats and wiped out enemies to defend the height to the last. During the postwar reconstruction and socialist construction he worked with devotion to discharge his duties as a member of the victor generation. He served as a lecturer at the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum under the great loving care and trust of the Party, devoting his wisdom and energy to deeply implanting the spirit of defending the country displayed in the 1950s in the minds of the younger generation. Pak Jong Won took an active part in the aircraft-hunting campaign in hearty response to the outstanding military ideas and Juche-oriented tactics of the President and shot down three airplanes of the enemy between December 1951 and January 1952, contributing to ensuring wartime transport. After the war, he carried on his service in the army to firmly defend the outpost of the class struggle to safeguard the country and people. Their remains were buried at the graves. The remains of the wives of Pak Jong Won and 12 other martyrs who had already been buried were interred together with their husbands'. The participants in the ceremony laid bouquets at their graves and paid a silent tribute to them. |
