Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- As sultry weather lingers, metal, chemical and electric power industries of the DPRK take positive steps to prevent the damage by fierce heat and ensure the production. The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex and other factories in the metal industry sector take proper measures to prevent any abnormal phenomenon in the high ambient temperature. Mines regularly check and repair mining equipment and vehicles and ensure nonstop production by timely supplying replacement parts. In the chemical industry sector, the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex and others take immediate steps to prevent different kinds of equipment from overheating, thus putting the production on a normal footing. In the electric power industry sector, the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex, Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant, etc. keep their cooling systems at full-capacity operation so that the generators and major transformers are not affected by the high temperature. Measures are taken to prevent short-circuiting. Workers in charge of transmitting or transforming electric power keep watch on the power lines in a responsible manner and take immediate steps to prevent the high-tension wires from loosening. The electric power systems are rationalized to tackle the overload of power lines. |
