Campaign for Preventing Drought Damage Launched in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 27 (KCNA) -- A sultry weather has continued in most parts of the DPRK from July 12, badly affecting crops. Officials and working people across the country turned out in the campaign for minimizing the drought damage to the crops.

Different kinds of water-transport means and pumping equipment were rapidly sent to the drought-afflicted areas.

The Ministry of Agriculture and agricultural guidance organs at all levels are taking positive measures for preventing drought damage.

While securing all water resources and mobilizing vehicles and pumping equipment like tractor, sprinkler and small-size water pump for irrigation, they are taking such immediate technical measures for the nutrition of crops as regular spraying of various growth stimulants, biological activators and germicides and for preventing insect damage which can be caused by high temperature.

Farms across the country have repaired groundwater-tapping facilities, built dammed pools and rearranged waterways in a short span of time, watering many paddy and dry fields on a daily basis by raising the operation rate of pumping equipment.

And they are manuring and cultivating crops in a responsible way to promote the growth of crops through foliage dressing and spraying of different germicides, growth stimulants and biological activators.
