Commuter Train Runs for Schoolchildren in DPRK
Pyongyang, July 29 (KCNA) -- Manpho City of Jagang Province is situated on the bank of the River Amnok in the northern extremity of the DPRK.

In the city there is a commuter train that runs for the schoolchildren living in remote mountainous villages.

47 years have passed since the train service started.

President Kim Il Sung saw to it that the train service began in September, Juche 63(1974) to ensure the school attendance of scores of schoolchildren living in remote mountainous villages.

Since then, the train has run between Rimtho Station and Sipridong Station of Manpho City to ensure the school attendance of the schoolchildren.

Chairman Kim Jong Il acquainted himself with the operation of the commuter train and sent a new passenger car as the number of schoolchildren increased.

Therefore, the number of passenger cars increased and electric locomotive service started.

In 2019 the commuter train service extended to ensure the school attendance of the schoolchildren of Samgang Senior Middle School.

Visual aids and TVs were installed in the cars to promote the education of the schoolchildren.

The commuter train tells about the great loving care shown by the great leaders for schoolchildren.
