DPRK Makes All-out Efforts to Avert Drought Damage to Crops

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- The DPRK concentrates its forces and means on preventing the drought damage to crops. Officials and working people of ministries, national institutions, institutions and industrial establishments of each province, city and county are making efforts to prevent the damage at co-op farms. South Hwanghae Province took measures to preferentially provide the agricultural supplies for combating the drought damage to crops and the institutions, factories and enterprises in the province render manpower support to farms. Those involved in the campaign to avert the drought damage water dry fields with various vehicles and pumping equipment after restoring water holes, wells and water pockets. Officials of ministries and national institutions and public officials also water the drought-afflicted fields by mobilizing water-supply vehicles. They also supplied accessories of pumping equipment to co-op farms to encourage the farmers. Farms in North Hwanghae Province, South Phyongan Province and other regions are also positively supported. Officials are setting good examples in the campaign for combating the drought damage to crops. Supporters, including officials of ministries and national institutions, and farmers, with the viewpoint that they must finish their daily watering plan although rain is forecast for tomorrow, concentrate on watering the drought-hit fields and the fields vulnerable to drought. And they take various agricultural technical measures to minimize the drought damage to crops. |
