Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK officials and workers in the field of the electrical power industry have launched a campaign for consolidating the foundations for current and future production. Officials of the Ministry of Electric Power Industry went to the power stations in different parts of the country to acquaint themselves with the problems arising in those units and take timely measures for tackling them. They also make sure that those power stations make substantial progress in their efforts for consolidating the foundations for production next year. The hydroelectric power stations direct efforts to repairing the structures in a qualitative way. Workers of the Orangchon Power Station No. 1, Samsu Power Station and other stations put efforts into finishing the repair of waterway tunnels and the construction of retaining walls for spillway as early as possible to prevent the waste of water in electricity production. They overhauled their generating equipment and meticulously conduct the technological management to ensure the full-capacity operation of equipment in this year's rainy season and next year's stable electricity production. The thermal power stations also focus on firmly consolidating the foundations for electricity production. The Sunchon Thermal Power Plant completed the project of increasing the capacity of coal yards and the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex and the Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant manufacture new turbine blades and replace old ones with them in cooperation with relevant units. The transmission stations and substations ensure the full-capacity operation of equipment and stability of the electric power system by repairing their major transformers, breakers and disconnecting switches and reinforcing electricity pylons in the second half of the year. They also engage in updating the electrode boilers and replacing transformers and electric motors with the appropriate ones in different parts of the country. |
