Wild Pheasants Multiplying in Kangdong Area of Pyongyang
Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- Many wild pheasants have lived in the area of Kangdong on the outskirts of Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, attracting attention of zoologists.

Kim Kyong Jun, deputy head of the Zoology Research Institute under the State Academy of Sciences, told KCNA:

In recent five years, the number of pheasants considerably increased in the area of Ponghwa-ri covered with shrubs like Forsythia koreana and various kinds of fruit-bearing trees.

There are hills thick with grass, the main feed resource for pheasants, and small swamps in the area. And dwarf apple garden and bush provide favorable environment for young pheasants.

The credit for such pheasant multiplication in the Kangdong area also goes to the strenuous efforts made by its residents to protect and propagate wild animals in the country.
