Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- Efforts are directed to preventing damage from downpour and flood in the fields of electric power and coal industries. Officials and working people in the field of electric power industry, checking every measure taken, are taking thoroughgoing measures from the viewpoint that any slightest negligence should not be allowed in preventing natural disasters. Thermal power plants across the country are taking timely measures while ascertaining whether there is any imperfection. They are pushing ahead with the prevention of damage, focusing efforts on protecting coal yards, coal-conveying system, outdoor electric power substations, pumping stations, etc. Hydro-power stations are checking the state of sluice gates and having mechanisms and communication equipment full prepared to ensure smooth opening and shutting of sluice gates. Power distribution units are keeping an itinerant check on power-transmission towers, power transformers and transmission lines in a responsible manner and taking immediate measures against abnormal points. Officials and miners in the field of coal industry have rebuilt watertight walls against dangerous spots like once-waterlogged pits, while meticulously cleaning out waterways in the pits. The urban management field dynamically carries out the work for preventing damage from downpour and flood on the principle of giving priority to the convenience of people, while scrutinizing possible situations to be entailed by downpour and flood. |
