According to data available at the Ministry of Urban Management, over 400 000 trees have been planted, a large area of land covered with turf and millions of flowering plants produced to decorate flower beds and stands this year.

The Horticultural Management Bureau under the ministry worked out medium- and long-term plans for greening, and is carrying them out.

Researchers in the greening design field have completed scores of layouts.

Pyongyang City pushes ahead with placing various shapes of movable flower stands and potted flowers at parks, pleasure grounds, streets, villages, etc. as well as greening the roofs of dwelling houses, paying deep attention to raising the formative artistic representation and ornamental efficiency.

It has also pushed forward to improve the greening and ecological environment of the capital city by planting roadside trees and hedges in a peculiar way.

The same is true of South Hamgyong Province and other areas.
