Pyongyang, August 9 (KCNA) -- Foresighted measures for preventing the flood damage are being taken in various sectors of the national economy and major construction sites. The agricultural field also strives to protect crops from flood and heavy rain. Regular control of facilities like drainage facilities, emptying gate and flood gate is underway for immediate operation in emergency. Necessary measures have been taken to protect lands from being washed away by flood, raise levees and keep crops from rainstorm. Thorough measures are being taken at major construction sites to prevent damage in rainy season. At the construction sites of 10000 flats in Pyongyang City, building materials are stored near the sites not to interrupt the construction in the rainy season. Measures have been taken to repair roofs over storage areas and clean out drainage canals around them. It is being pushed forward at the third-stage construction sites in Samjiyon City to prepare spare parts and materials necessary for normal operation of equipment in the rainy season. At the Tanchon Power Station now under construction, pumps have been installed and pipes laid in working faces to protect waterway tunnels from being waterlogged and safety measures taken for structures. Mines across the country scrupulously carry out the repair of drainage system, install more pumps and fully keep spare pumps and accessories, while paying deep attention to protecting settling ponds from flood. Units of the fishing sector are making full preparations to send fishing boats to safe waters, while frequently monitoring wharfs and other coastal structures. |
