DPRK Premier Inspects Flood-hit Areas in South Hamgyong Province

Pyongyang, August 12 (KCNA) -- Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected the flood-hit areas in South Hamgyong Province to learn about the recovery campaign. Looking round the flood-afflicted areas in Yonggwang, Sinhung and Hongwon counties and Tanchon City, he inspired the service personnel of the People's Army and people in the province who are fully displaying the might of the great army-civilian unity in their dynamic recovery campaign to thoroughly implement the instruction given by the Party Central Military Commission and the decision made at the enlarged meeting of the South Hamgyong Provincial Military Commission. Learning about the living conditions of the flood victims, he stressed the need for the officials of the province to relieve the troubles of the victims in time while sharing pain with them, bearing in mind the Party Central Committee's intention of paying primary attention to the living of the people in the disaster-hit areas. The field consultative meeting discussed in detail the issue of frequently inquiring and solving the problems arising in the recovery campaign by ensuring the on-the-spot operation and command by the central team for guiding the project for recovery from flood damage, the issue of taking urgent measures for minimizing the damage to crops in the inundated fields and the issue of making preparations to cope with future heavy rain and flood. Meanwhile, the premier visited the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, the Ryongsong Machine Complex and the February 8 Vinalon Complex playing important roles in attaining the goals for the first year in implementing the five-year plan. He took practical measures for putting their production on a normal basis and pushing ahead with reinforcing and expanding their production foundations. |
