The restaurant resembling a flock of cranes perched on a cliff adds beauty to the scenery of Pyongyang.

It, commissioned on August 13, Juche 49 (1960), serves Pyongyang cold noodle and other dishes famous at home and abroad.

The restaurant is associated with the peerlessly great men's idea of "The People Are God".

President Kim Il Sung fixed a site for the restaurant in the best place of Pyongyang and named it "Okryu Restaurant". Later, he visited the restaurant again, saying that he is very pleased to see such a good building for the people.

Under the detailed guidance of Chairman Kim Jong Il, the restaurant was developed into a public service center where the national classical beauty was combined with the modern beauty and formative art was applied to architecture in a peculiar way.

The President and the Chairman taught a recipe for Pyongyang cold noodle and assigned competent cooks from across the country to the restaurant. And they took steps to equip it with the best utensils and cooking facilities as well as to supply raw materials.

The employees of the restaurant are now striving to steadily improve their service level, true to the noble intention of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who has been always concerned for the improvement of the people's diet.
