Measures Taken to Minimize Damage by Flood and Typhoon in DPRK
Pyongyang, August 14 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK, the railway transport sector pushes forward with the work for minimizing the damage by disastrous weather.

The Ministry of Railways urges all its emergency teams for natural disaster crisis control to identify and report every vulnerable factor, keeping a close watch on changing weather conditions. Its officials dispatched to the areas vulnerable to natural disaster conduct intensive repair of relevant structures.

Several railway bureaus, in contact with provincial, city and county people's committees, carry out the work for preventing landslide and building stone dykes around the railways to prevent damage to roadbed.

All trackmen's teams, which posted watchers at vulnerable places, make sure that railway patrollers fulfill their responsibility and role to tackle any abnormal circumstances.

They installed protective devices to protect electricity supply facilities from natural disaster, ensuring normal supply of electricity for the operation of locomotives by stepping up the repair and reinforcement of drainage facilities of substations.

As heavy rain is forecast to hit the eastern coastal areas in mid-August and during the last ten days of the month, relevant units take measures to prevent damage to the railway sections in their charge.
