Pyongyang, August 14 (KCNA) -- The Arch of Triumph is a grand monument in Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK. Inscribed on it are the words of the immortal revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Il Sung". The revolutionary hymn is the main theme of the monument which conveys the feats of President Kim Il Sung, the anti-Japanese legendary hero and the savior of national restoration. As the hymn tells, the President's traces of blood can be found on the crags of Mt Paektu and streams of the Amnok. With his high ambition to liberate Korea usurped by the Japanese imperialists and rescue the destiny of the nation, he embarked on the road of revolution in his teens. He founded the immortal Juche idea and led the hard-fought and grim anti-Japanese revolutionary war, unprecedented in the world history of wars, to victory. In the course, he had to suffer bitter sorrow at the loss of his family members and revolutionary comrades and go through manifold unimaginable ordeals and hardships. But, he overcame all those pains with his superhuman will and deep sense of mission to save the destiny of the fellow countrymen and blazed the path to the anti-Japanese revolution, the path to national liberation. That's why the Korean people raised the cheers of "Long Live General Kim Il Sung!" with deep gratitude and ecstasy on August 15, Juche 34 (1945), the historic day of the national liberation. And the immortal revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Il Sung" came into being in reflection of the unanimous mind of the Korean people looking up to and upholding the President as the sun of the nation. |
