The university has made achievements in scientific research through socialist emulation drives among faculties, research institutes, departments, teachers and researchers.

A research team from the Ferrous Metal Research Institute under the Metal Engineering Faculty of the university, which is active at the Posan Iron Works, finished the equipment designing slated for the latter half of this year and manufactured the equipment ahead of schedule.

Through the responsible technical guidance over the manufacture and installation of blast blower for a revolving furnace, the team ensured its successful trial operation, thus helping the Posan Iron Works to over-fulfill the production plan for the first half of this year.

Another research team of the faculty has intensified the research into the pig-iron production process at anthracite furnace, thus remodeling the structure of the existing furnace and providing a guarantee for putting its operation on a scientific basis.

A research team of the Mining Engineering Faculty verified the scientific accuracy and reliability of apatite flotation system based on home-made reagent.

Researchers of the Earth Sci-tech Faculty, active at a coal mine, perfected the pit prospecting technology on the basis of cutting-edge physical prospecting method and proved its scientific accuracy and effectiveness. And they developed a high-performance resistivity CT to confirm the state of foundation for a skyscraper now under construction as part of the project for building 10 000 flats in Pyongyang.

The Electric-power System Institute also made achievements in providing scientific guarantee to the measurement accuracy of home-made differential flow-meter.

Research teams of other faculties and units also work hard to solve urgent sci-tech problems at major worksites for the socialist economic construction.
