The history of this Songdowon International Children's Camp, whose operation was started in August Juche 49 (1960), tells about the peerlessly great men's warm love for posterity.

In June 1959, President Kim Il Sung came to scenic Songdowon to choose a site for the children's camp and indicate in detail the direction and ways for its construction.

After that, he visited the camp several times to give detailed instructions on the organization and guidance over camping life and even on the supply service for campers.

Chairman Kim Jong Il had shown deep care for the operation of this camp, making sure that it was fully equipped with all necessary conditions. Even in March 1993 when a hair-trigger situation prevailed in the country, he visited the camp to learn about the schoolchildren's camping life.

Under the guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the Songdowon International Children's Camp was remodeled on the highest level in May 2014.

He guided its reconstruction plan and dispatched a powerful construction force of the army and competent designers. And he settled on a preferential basis any problems arising in the project and provided the latest projection and sound equipment and other cultural recreation facilities to the camp.

When the reconstruction of the camp was completed, he personally attended its inaugural ceremony. After that, he has been always concerned for the campers to spend pleasant days of camping life.

So, the DPRK people call this camp a house of love and a palace of happiness.
