Monument to Victorious Battle of Musan Area

Pyongyang, August 21 (KCNA) -- There is the Monument to the Victorious Battle of Musan Area in Taehongdan County, Ryanggang Province of the DPRK. The monument conveys the immortal feats of President Kim Il Sung who advanced into the Musan area with the main unit of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) in Juche 28 (1939), the period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary war and dealt a heavy military and political blow to the Japanese imperialists to implant the confidence in the national liberation in the minds of the Korean people. Seen in the center of the monument is the statue of the President. It depicts the lofty image of the President commanding the battle of Musan area with a pair of binoculars in one hand. Under the leadership of the President, the KPRA unit inflicted wholesale deaths upon the enemy by applying the tactic of allurement, the blitz tactic and the tactic of marching a long distance at a step at the battle of Musan area. After all, the enemy, who were making desperate efforts to strike flanks and rear of the revolutionary army, were surrounded on the contrary and suffered repeated shameful defeats. The monument has the tower of a rifle inscribed with letters "Monument to the Victorious Battle of Musan Area," sculptures in relief that depict members of the revolutionary army showering a heavy fire on the enemy, underground workers making a political work among the people in their struggle, etc. The President visited the area on August 21, 1991 and recollected the period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary war with deep emotion. |
