Pyongyang, August 24 (KCNA) -- At around 17:20, August 24, 1945, a ship was broken into two pieces and sunk by explosion in the sea some 300 meters off Maizuru Port, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. It was recorded as the "Ukishima-maru" explosion incident in the history. Thousands of Koreans who boarded the transport ship of the former Japanese navy to return homeland after the liberation of Korea were buried at sea in a moment. After the incident, the Japanese reactionaries claimed that the ship was "sunk by a mine". But it was a crime premeditatedly and intentionally committed by the Japanese imperialists. The whole course of explosion incident, testimonies of the survivors and the discovered data expose the secret of the incident. A telegram to the chief of staff of Ominato naval guards from transport headquarters under the Naval Ministry on August 19, 1945 was discovered at the data room of war history of Japan's Defense Ministry. Contained in it were the contents on permission of the navigation of "Ukishima-maru". At that time, the navigation of a ship more than 100 tons was halted in Japanese territorial waters by the order of the allied forces. Under such situation the embarkation and departure of the 4 730-ton naval transport ship were permitted and carried on with ease, which proves the criminal character of the premeditated explosion incident. A crewman of "Ukishima-maru" testified that the ship departed the port with less fuel. This shows that the ship was not planned to sail to Pusan Port from the outset, he added. The Japanese ran away on lifeboats from the ship just before its explosion. This tells that prearranged plan was worked out by the explosion plot. On its way to Maizuru Port, the ship received a notice that the mine-sweeping operation was completed. This proves that the Japanese reactionaries' allegation that the ship was hit a mine was a whopping lie. And witnesses testified that a column of water was not observed in mine explosion and there occurred consecutive explosions. This witnesses that the "Ukishima-maru" explosion incident is a premeditated massacre committed by the Japanese imperialists to revenge their defeat. |
