To value the youth was a strategic line President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il had adhered to in the whole period of leading the revolution.

In the early period of the Korean revolution, the President rallied the young Koreans, who were wavering after being deprived of their country, behind revolutionary organizations with his comradely love and trust, and brought them up to be passionate fighters.

Under his leadership, members of the youth vanguard and young fighters got closely united under the banner of the Down-with-Imperialism Union. They liberated their country by waging a fierce war against the Japanese imperialists. In this course, the sacred patriotic traditions of the youth vanguard were established.

After the liberation of Korea, the President united the entire patriotic youth under the banner of democracy and inspired them to the struggle for building a new country. In the days of the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War, he greatly encouraged the youth to turn out in the sacred war for annihilating the enemy and defending the country.

In the difficult post-war period, he made sure that the youth found themselves in the van of the rehabilitation campaign, calling for demonstrating the mettle of the Koreans once again.

The brilliant history and traditions of the Juche-oriented youth movement were vigorously carried forward by the noble intention of the Chairman.

In his early years, the Chairman defined it as the primary mission of the youth league and the general goal of the Korean youth movement to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche, giving perfect solutions to the theoretical and practical problems arising in the socialist youth movement. He turned the youth movement into a revolutionary movement for successfully carrying forward the idea and cause of the President.

He set forth the slogan "Love the young people!" and bestowed the deepest trust upon the youth by calling them the reserve combat unit and special detachment of the Supreme Commander and eternal companions of the Party.

When the country was in hardship, he named the motorway completed by the youth builders in a short period "Youth Hero Motorway". Under his care many young people were projected as paragons representing the era as they were dedicating themselves to society, the collective and comrades.

Today, the Juche-oriented youth movement has ushered in the greatest heyday of its development under the guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
