DPRK's History of Self-reliance(25)
Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- The 1990s is recorded as the days of Arduous March, the forced march in the history of the DPRK. At that time, the Korean revolution stood at the crossroads of life and death.

In the period, Chairman Kim Jong Il smashed the anti-DPRK moves of the imperialists and aroused all the people to the sacred struggle for building a thriving country.

On the order of the Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army for building Chongryu Bridge (2nd stage) and Kumnung Tunnel No. 2, soldier-builders finished the projects in less than one year by displaying the spirit of self-reliance and fortitude to the full. Those in charge of building the large-scale Anbyon Youth Power Station, too, worked a miracle to complete the construction in the set time.

Under the guidance of the Chairman who made the fighting spirit displayed in the construction of the Anbyon Youth Power Station spread throughout the country, Jagang Province created the Kanggye Spirit, overcoming manifold hardships. And many industrial establishments across the country made remarkable innovative successes in the flames of struggle kindled in Songgang and Ranam.

Besides, a large-scale land realignment project was carried out to turn the fields of the country into standardized ones fit for mechanization while the largest Kaechon-Lake Thaesong Waterway Project ever in the country's history of irrigation construction was pushed ahead. And fruit production bases were built up, modern stockbreeding and fish farms came into being across the country and farm villages were turned into socialist fairylands.

The first artificial satellite Kwangmyongsong-1 was successfully launched by domestic efforts and technology to demonstrate the inexhaustible might of Juche Korea to the whole world.

Today, the DPRK people are dynamically advancing toward the greater victory with the eternal foundation for building a thriving country provided by Chairman Kim Jong Il.
