Honggondo Reclaimed Tideland Turns into Vast Rice Fields
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- Vast rice fields can be seen in the Honggondo Reclaimed Tideland in the western coastal area built under a far-reaching plan of the Workers' Party of Korea for the great transformation of nature.

Large-scale fields of standardized shapes were formed across the rough sea and fresh water flows into them along the dozens of ri-long waterway, bringing about a rich harvest. It is a brilliant fruition of the wise leadership of our Party.

Officials and workers of the North Phyongan Provincial Tideland Reclamation General Enterprise completed the first- and second-phase projects of the Honggondo Reclaimed Tideland and obtained 10 000 hectares of new land.

Officials, Party members and working people in the province built the Tongraegang Reservoir dam in less than one year through the army-people joint operation and pushed forward the waterway project from the Tongraegang Reservoir to the Honggondo Reclaimed Tideland while dynamically conducting the building of setups of the first-phase reclaimed tideland.

Agricultural scientists put great efforts on introducing and securing new high-yielding rice species highly resistant to all kinds of damage including damage by salt, and thus provided a guarantee for registering success in farming on the reclaimed tideland from the first year.

The vast rice fields at the Honggondo Reclaimed Tideland demonstrate the strong stamina of our country which ushers in the era of fresh advance while resolutely fighting against all sorts of trials and challenges.
