Pyongyang, September 11 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, on Aug. 31 received a message of greeting from Uhuru Kenyatta, president of the Republic of Kenya.

The message said:

Your Excellency.

On behalf of the Government and the People of the Republic of Kenya and on my own behalf, I convey our warm greetings and congratulations to Your Excellency, the Government and the Great People of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

As we join you in commemorating this important day in your country history, I take note with appreciation the long-standing and friendly cooperation between Kenya and the DPRK both at the bilateral and multilateral fora. I firmly believe that our relations will further strengthen in the years ahead for the common good of our people.

Your Excellency, I also wish to express my gratitude to the DPRK support during Kenya's successful bid in joining the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as a non-permanent member for the years 2021-2022 term.

I am confident the two countries will work closely to cultivate a climate of trust, transparency and consensus in order to promote the respect for international rules and norms in the advancement of peaceful resolution of conflicts and increased cooperation in enhancing global peace and security, fight against terrorism and tackling climate change among other global issues of mutual interest.

I look forward to working closely with you and your Government to further strengthen our relations for the mutual benefit of our countries and people.

I wish Your Excellency good health, success and prosperity for the people of the DPRK.

Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
