New Historical Non-fiction Published in DPRK
Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- The Social Science Book Publishing House in the DPRK brought out a new full-length historical non-fiction "Hanol" (volume 1).

This book is set against the background of the years from 1904 to January 1909, a period before and after the Japanese imperialists' occupation of Korea. It deals with the struggle of hero Ra In Yong (real name is Ra Chol) and other anti-Japanese patriots and the creation of Taejong faith.

When the Japanese imperialists' moves for occupying Korea became evermore undisguised after the Russo-Japanese War, the hero, together with his colleagues, formed an anti-Japanese patriotic organization and stood in the van of national salvation movement. He denounced the Japanese imperialists for cooking up the "Ulsa (1905) Five-point Treaty" and attempted to dispose of the traitors but in vain. He had to be exiled to a remote place.

In the course, the hero came to understand the fact that it is impossible to achieve the country's independence through some people's struggle. So, he formed an organization believing in Taejong faith that worships Tangun, the ancestral father of the Korean nation, on January 15, 1909 in order to unite Koreans in the national spirit of Hanol (the object of worship in Taejong faith), the patriotic spirit.
