Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- In Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, there are specialty restaurants run by provinces. Those restaurants are associated with the warm love of Chairman Kim Jong Il. One day in October Juche 64 (1975) when the 30th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) was just around the corner, the Chairman gave an instruction that each province should run its own specialty restaurant in Pyongyang so as to make the capital city become more animated. So, cooks selected from each province came up to Pyongyang and served special dishes of their provinces to Pyongyang citizens from October 9 to 19. In November that year, the Chairman stressed the need to go on with such service, saying that citizens were delighted at it. After all, provincial specialty restaurants came into being in Pyongyang. With the approach of the 76th WPK birthday, employees of those specialty restaurants including Pyongyang Amnok Restaurant, Pyongyang Songdo Restaurant and Pyongyang Kanggye Noodle House are now making full preparations for better service. The Pyongyang Kalmaegi Restaurant, a specialty restaurant of North Hamgyong Province, will serve various kinds of tasty and nutritious dishes made with marine products and Tricholoma matsutake growing in Mt Chilbo. Typical of its special dishes are steamed crab and lobster, roasted Tricholoma matsutake, slices of raw fish, and starch noodle. Tricholoma matsutake, a special product of the DPRK, has been well known to the world for its taste, fragrance and medicinal effect. Kim Chun Gyong, manager of the restaurant, told KCNA that its famous special dishes would give pleasure and satisfaction to the guests. |
