Thanks to his warm love for the people, the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site Souvenir Factory could be turned into an admirable production base for mass consumer goods.

The factory, situated in Mangyongdae District of Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, was built on the initiative of Chairman Kim Jong Il and under his detailed guidance in Juche 68 (1979). At that time, it produced souvenirs and daily necessities for visitors to the revolutionary battle sites and historic sites, eternal treasures of the Korean revolution.

Under the deep trust and love of the General Secretary, it has developed into a factory substantially conducive to the improvement of the people's standard of living.

The General Secretary set forth a task for turning it into a factory producing not only souvenirs but also various consumer goods by remodeling it as required by the new century and installing modern zipper, melamine resin goods and other production processes in addition.

He visited the remodeled factory in October 2016, saying with pleasure that one of his ardent wishes for the people came true. He expressed his great satisfaction over the emergence of another mass consumer goods producer based on domestic technology and materials.

Over the past 5 years after his field guidance, the factory newly established processes for plating zippers and producing cap, belt and adhesive band and considerably increased the productivity and variety of goods by inventing and remodeling lots of equipment and facilities.
