Chemical Industry Reinforces Self-supporting Foundation
Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- The chemical industry has become innovative in its endeavors to reinforce its self-supporting foundations.

The Hungnam Fertilizer Complex has completed a new ammonia production process through anthracite gasification to keep the normal operation of the generator.

The February 8 Vinalon Complex, which had opened up prospects for the revitalization of production by building a catalyst production base essential to the production of vinyl chloride and vinalon with its own efforts and technology, has put the production of caustic soda on normal footing by rebuilding the salt-dissolving ground.

The Ponghwa Chemical Factory has updated the production lines and increased the production of chemical goods conducive to the economic construction and the improvement of the standard of people's living.

The Sinuiju Chemical Fibre Mill is further perfecting the process of producing paper with reed as raw material and also locally manufacturing reagents with locally available raw materials in its hard push for paper production. It is also pushing ahead with the projects for new construction and modernization as scheduled.

The Chongjin Chemical Fibre Mill is speeding up the trial operation of the rayon pulp production process for confirming its technical specifications.

The Pyongyang Rubber Factory and the Wonsan Chemical Factory are stepping up the rubber production by producing adhesive from waste pulp fluid and the Myonggan Chemical Factory is rounding off the brown coal dry distillation process with their own efforts and technology and with locally available materials.
