Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- The Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) participated in the Korean War (June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953) under the banner of resisting America and aiding Korea, safeguarding the home and defending the motherland and fully displayed popular heroism and matchless bravery. Many years have passed since then, but the DPRK people still remember the heroic feats the CPV combatants performed in the sacred war to defeat the imperialist aggressors. Huang Jiguang, one of the combatants, opened the way to a charge of his unit by blocking the enemy's gun muzzle with his body at the age of 21 in the battle for defending Sanggam Pass on the central front in autumn of Juche 41 (1952). Seriously wounded Jiang Shifu became a human bomb to destroy the enemy's tank and Wang Anquan alone repulsed violent attacks of the enemy for two days, killing or injuring hundreds of enemies. Qiu Shaoyun came to be enveloped in flames but he did not expose himself till the last moment of his life to ensure the duty for assault. Hu Xiudao defended a height by defeating the enemy's 40-odd rounds of heavy attacks in a day. Yang Yucai made a big contribution to the victory of his unit by destroying the enemy's regimental headquarters. The DPRK government conferred the title of DPRK Hero on 12 combatants of the CPV and orders and medals of the DPRK on more than 661 700 combatants in appreciation of their feats performed in such many battles as the battle on the Chongchon River bank, the battle in Lake Jangjin and the battle for defending Sanggam Pass. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the cemetery of CPV martyrs in Hoechang County of South Phyongan Province in October 2020 and said that every part of the country is permeated with red blood shed by the CPV officers and men who bravely fought in the sacred war against the imperialist aggressors and that the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government and people would never forget their noble soul and lofty self-sacrificing spirit forever. |
