Wreaths Laid before Friendship Tower

Pyongyang, October 26 (KCNA) -- Wreaths were laid before the Friendship Tower on Monday, the 71st anniversary of the entry of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) into the Korean Front. Present at the wreath-laying ceremony were Kang Yun Sok, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), Mun Song Hyok, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), Army Lieutenant General Kim Chol Gun, vice-minister of National Defence, Pak Myong Ho, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and other officials concerned. The national anthems of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) were played. Placed at the tower was a wreath in the joint name of the WPK Central Committee, the SPA Standing Committee of the DPRK and the Cabinet of the DPRK. Also laid were wreaths in the names of the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of External Economic Relations and the Ministry of Culture and wreaths in the joint names of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the DPRK-China Friendship Association, and the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK and the Pyongyang City People's Committee. The participants walked round the tower after paying a silent tribute to the memory of the CPV martyrs who displayed noble internationalist fidelity and matchless self-sacrificing spirit in the sacred war against the imperialists' invasion under the banner of resisting America and aiding Korea, safeguarding the home and defending the motherland. On the same day, wreaths were laid at the cemeteries and graves of the CPV martyrs in Hyongjesan District of Pyongyang City, Anju City and Hoechang County of South Phyongan Province, Onsong County of North Hamgyong Province and Kaesong City. |
