Lots of Fry Released to Rivers, Streams
Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The Pyongyang City Fish Farming Management Bureau produced much more fry than this year's plan and released over 20 million into the Taedong River and other rivers and streams.

The bureau drew up a detailed plan to increase the aquatic resources this year, the first year for implementing the new five-year plan, and directed its efforts to producing fry. With importance given to the proper operation of the well-organized fry production system, it has strengthened technical guidance.

The spawning units secured high-yielding mother fishes, bred and cared them in a scientific and technological way and thus increased the survival rate and the rate of weight increase.

In the spring and autumn fish egg-collection period, they made and set up egg-collection facilities suited to biological features of different kinds of fish and introduced an advanced artificial fertilization method.

The increase in the hatching rate backed by good water quality and correct water temperature in hatching ponds also contributed to increasing the fry production per unit area.
