Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- There are many patriots who contribute to glorifying the excellent traditions of the nation generation after generation in DPRK. Among them is the family of U Chi Son (November 1919 - November 2003) who was a winner of Kim Il Sung prize and people's artist. The people call his family a ceramic family as his children and grandchildren all have made Koryo celadon generation after generation. He was famous among not only our people but also people in other countries for his excellent creation of Koryo celadon, one of precious cultural heritages of our nation. Under his influence, U Chol Ryong and U Pok Dan, his son and daughter, trained the main methods of creating Koryo celadon and technology with their joint wisdom at the working place and home. Keeping the principle of continuity in creating Koryo celadon they further refined the creating methods in keeping with modern tastes and contributed to further developing our ceramic art. Their Koryo celadon pieces were awarded the highest prizes at porcelain fairs held in other countries. U Chi Son passed away but his intention to glorify the tradition of our nation has been handed over down to his grandchildren. They are U Yong Jin and U Yong Ho who graduated from Pyongyang University of Fine Arts and became creators of Koryo celadon just like their grandfather and father. With the honor and pride of being members of the ceramic family and with the soul of patriotism, they are devoting their wisdom and enthusiasm to creating Koryo celadon with their father. |
