Pyongyang, November 5 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK, a work for protecting and inheriting the intangible cultural heritages has been intensively conducted in a versatile way under the state and social interest. The DPRK Law on the Protection of National Heritage was revised for the third time to provide a solid legal guarantee for the protection of intangible cultural heritages. A professional administrative organization in charge of the intangible cultural heritage protection and non-permanent committees for the protection of national cultural heritages organized in Pyongyang and provinces have discovered and verified the intangible cultural heritages and strengthened their deliberation and estimation. According to data available, more than 120 subjects of high historical, artistic and academic value were discovered and collected from social custom, labor life, traditional medicine and dish, life custom, folk play and other aspects in recent years. They were all registered in the list of national and local intangible cultural heritages. Meanwhile, more than 10 study subjects related to the intangible cultural heritages came into being at some universities under the state measure. And the intangible cultural heritages have been widely introduced through media. The DPRK acceded to the international convention for the safeguarding of the intangible cultural heritage of the UNESCO in November Juche 97 (2008). According to an official concerned, a work is going on to register the DPRK's national intangible cultural heritages as world cultural heritages in cooperation with the UNESCO. |
