Interest in Paduk Education Grows in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- A social interest in paduk, a traditional sport event and an intelligence game, is growing in the DPRK with the appearance of paduk classes at Taekwon-Do schools as an occasion.

Paduk education is divided into two--theory and practice.

Students at those schools mainly get theoretical lessons in the morning and practical lessons in the afternoon. Through theoretical lessons, they acquire the knowledge of paduk like winning tricks, which are systematized in a scientific way.

In an interview with KCNA, Kim Jong Byol, a student of Pyongyang City Taekwon-Do School, said: Thousands of years ago, Koreans created paduk, an intelligence game showing the nation's wisdom and spirit. There will be no other intelligence games to be compared with paduk in depth of moves and popularity in playing method. For this reason, paduk is called the king of intelligence sports.

Practical lessons are held in the method of finding answers to the given problems, and the students who found answers move up to the next grade.

According to An Tong Chol, a teacher of the school, the students' study zeal for paduk is very high. They will be high-grade players at the time of graduation, he said, adding that the ranks of paduk players will increase and the work for popularizing paduk will be accelerated faster in the country.
