Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK, mothers with lots of children stand high in public esteem. In September last, Pak Un Jong, a woman living in Kangdong County of Pyongyang City, was awarded the title of Labor Hero for her motherhood. This year, she gave birth to the tenth child at the Pyongyang Maternity Hospital. Her three children are now serving in the army, and other children study at middle and primary schools and kindergartens under the benefit of the socialist education system. In an interview with KCNA, Pak said: I never dreamed of such honor for having given birth to many children. I will bring up my children well to be pillars of the country. The state has issued medical treatment tickets for prolific mothers to provide them with medical assistance on a preferential basis while taking deep care of their life. The system of awarding the title of Labor Hero to prolific women came into being under the warm affection of the peerlessly great men. In Juche 85 (1996), Chairman Kim Jong Il gave an instruction on encouraging women to give birth to many children and highly appreciating their deeds in the state and society. And he took a step to establish a new system of awarding the title of Labor Hero to prolific mothers. That year, several women could win the title of the DPRK Labor Hero as they gave birth to many children and stood them at the military posts for defence of the country and difficult and labor-consuming sectors. The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un saw to it that Mother's Day was set in 2012, the new century of Juche, and the 4th National Meeting of Mothers was held on the first Mother's Day. At the meeting, the title of Labor Hero was awarded to seven women who gave birth to many children. |
