Dolmen, Relic of Ancient Times
Pyongyang, November 20 (KCNA) -- Dolmen is a typical tomb shape of the Korean ancient states, including Ancient Korea (early 30th century B.C. - 108 B.C.).

Its tomb chamber was made with plain rocks on the ground or in half cellar and a big flat stone weighing 5-6 tons or tens of tons was put on it. All flat stones are exposed on the ground.

One group of dolmens consists of 7-10 or rarely 1-2 dolmens and at least 100 to 300 dolmens were distributed in one place.

In the Taedong River basin with Pyongyang as a center, there are more than 14,000 dolmens including 200-odd dolmens with constellation carved on their flat stones. Pyongyang was the capital of Ancient Korea and the center of the ancient culture.

Discovered at those dolmens were weaponry like bronze pipha-shaped spearhead, stone or bronze arrowhead and stone dagger, ornaments and different kinds of earthenware.

The dolmens and relics associated with creative talents of the ancestors are precious wealth showing the Korean nation's long history and cultural development.
