National Integrated Disaster Control Information System Developed in DPRK
Pyongyang, November 26 (KCNA) -- The Global Environmental Information Institute under the State Academy of Sciences in the DPRK developed a national integrated disaster control information system.

According to Prof. and Dr. Choe Kwang Su, one of its developers, the system plays an important role in predicting the regions to be affected by natural disaster, monitoring the disaster situation in real-time and taking steps to minimize the damage by means of space information technology.

Basing itself on the study of the world's latest sci-tech successes, the research group itemized the designing of the system in keeping with the country's meteorological and physiographical conditions. And it solved the sci-tech problems arising in network architecture and operation in conformity with SCORM Fourth and developed programs and technologies needed for the operation of system.

After all, a method of modeling and analyzing the dangerous meteorological phenomena in three dimensions by means of space information technology was established to complete the system helpful to estimating in real-time any possible flooding, typhoon and drought on a nationwide scale.
