The book is of important significance in classifying the country's plant resources on a scientific basis to make clear the growing district and distribution of each plant species.

Scientists went round various regions of the country, including the areas of Mts Taesong and Ryongak in Pyongyang City, Yangdok area of South Phyongan Province and the areas of Hyesan and Samjiyon cities in Ryanggang Province to collect herbaria of herbaceous plants and make clear in detail their growing districts and characteristics of species.

Contained in the book are detailed data on 780 species out of more than 2,500 species of herbaceous plants in the country.

The book will be helpful to giving ample knowledge of plants to botanists and working people and protecting and proliferating the country's plant resources.
