Samil Wolgan, Organ of ARF
Pyongyang, December 1 (KCNA) -- It has been 85 years since President Kim Il Sung founded "Samil Wolgan", organ of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland (ARF) during the anti-Japanese revolutionary war (December 16, 1931 - August 15, 1945).

Samil Wolgan meaning March 1st in Korean is one of the revolutionary publications the President founded in the days of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.

After the historic Nanhutou meeting held from February 27 to March 3, 1936, the President organized the ARF, a permanent united front involving all the anti-Japanese patriotic forces. And he planned to found its organ and actively conducted a work for realizing it. He saw to it that a publishing house was built and named the organ of the ARF Samil Wolgan in reflection of the spirit of the March First Popular Uprising waged by the Korean people against the Japanese imperialists. He even wrote manuscripts while conducting battles against the enemy.

On the basis of full preparations, he founded Samil Wolgan on December 1, Juche 25 (1936).

Samil Wolgan was entrusted with missions of not only the organ of the ARF but also the organ of the Party Committee of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) and of a mass political magazine for all Koreans.

This magazine dealt with editorials on "The Ten-Point Programme of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland" authored by the President and the contents of his famous works and thus contributed to deeply impressing the KPRA members and the people with the character and duty of the Korean revolution, consolidating the organizational and ideological basis for the party founding and strengthening the driving force of the revolution.

With the publication of the magazine, a work for expanding the networks of the ARF organizations was accelerated at a very fast tempo.

Samil Wolgan played a significant role in arousing the Koreans to the all-people resistance against the Japanese imperialists.
