Amid active nationwide preparation for afforestation for next year by the devoted efforts of the officials and workers in the field of forestry, more than one billion tree saplings of over 140 species have been produced.

South Phyongan Province has pushed ahead with the production of saplings while directing efforts to turning the city and county mother tree nurseries into labor-, energy- and land-saving ones and thus fulfilled the production plan 112 percent.

South Hamgyong Province has produced one hundred million highly profitable saplings including Kumya Black Pine and Aronia melanocarpa that have been acclimatized to the climatic conditions.

Tree nurseries in other areas have learned the details of ecological characters of tree saplings while giving precedence to securing seeds, and solved technical problems for scientific management and operation of greenhouses so as to increase the production.
