Going round the blast furnace shop, the steel shop and other places of the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex, he encouraged the officials and workers who are making innovation to glorify the first year of the 5-year plan with the increased iron and steel production.

He stressed the need to hit the iron production goal set by the Party without fail by scrupulously improving the technical control over production processes to shorten the melting time and expanding the production capacity in a far-sighted way, with the pride and responsibility for taking charge of the country's leading industry.

Visiting the Namhung Youth Chemical Complex, he called for increasing the production of fertilizer on a stable and steady basis, bearing deep in mind the importance of duty the complex has to fulfill in raising good crops, an issue to which top priority is given by the Party and the state.

At the Anju Insulating Material Factory, he called for producing and supplying much more insulating materials urgently needed in all the fields of the national economy by further perfecting the production processes, improving the performance of equipment and steadily raising the proportion of locally available raw and other materials as required by the development trend of the world and the specific situation of the factory.

The field consultative meetings discussed such issues as those of firmly cementing the material and technological foundation for increase in the iron and steel production, producing and supplying enough fertilizer needed for next year's farming, improving the quality of insulating materials and increasing the ranks of technicians and skilled workers and expanding the production capacity in conformity with the decision made at the 8th Congress of the WPK and the administrative policy of the DPRK government.
