Among them is a story about laudable deed shown by Kim Song Yon, a teacher of Ryonhwa Primary School in Central District, Pyongyang City.

Last year, Kim Song Yon came to know that Ri Kang Hwi, a seven-year-old boy from Sariwon City of North Hwanghae Province, was receiving treatment at Pyongyang University of Medicine Hospital as he lost the use of one of his legs due to poliomyelitis. She made her mind to teach him during his treatment period, out of her mission and obligation as an educator.

She became the teacher in charge of Ri of her own accord and devoted all her sincerity to him. She prepared a lesson program and test problems suitable to his mental state and character to develop his intelligence. During the treatment after he underwent several rounds of major operation, she visited him in hospital every day to give encouragement and teach him.

In sport lessons, she carried him on her back so that he could have the lessons together with his classmates. Thanks to her sincerity, Ri Kang Hwi could be a model pupil loved by the collective and fellows.

With success in the treatment, Ri left for Sariwon amid the hearty send-off of teachers and pupils at the school.
