Pyongyang, December 15 (KCNA) -- In outer part of scenic Mt Chilbo in the DPRK, there is Rojok Peak listed as a natural monument.

This peak is located at the roadside about 6 km away toward Pakdal Pass from the seat of Pochon-ri, Myongchon County of North Hamgyong Province.

It was formed in the shape of grain stack when basalt rocks with granite on top dating back to the Jurassic period of Mesozoic era was eroded by two water courses. Joints of basalt rocks are in regular shape, making the peak look like a stack of tens of thousands of rice sacks.

The relative height of the peak is 50 meters and it is cone-shaped.

This rare peak has great significance in geographical survey of Mt Chilbo area as well as of the process of the formation of basalt rock.
