Korean People Pay Silent Tribute to Memory of Chairman Kim Jong Il

Pyongyang, December 18 (KCNA) -- All the people in the DPRK greatly miss and revere Chairman Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of his demise. The national flag was hung at half-mast at all units including institutions, enterprises and factories at all levels and farms, fishing villages and schools in Pyongyang and provinces and at the far-off guard posts. An endless stream of people with profound respect for the Chairman, who devoted all his life to the country and the people, socialism and world independence, visited the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill in the capital city of Pyongyang and the statues of the great leaders, mosaics portraying their smiling images, towers to the immortality of the great leaders, revolutionary battle sites, revolutionary sites and monuments to the field guidance by the great leaders across the country. At noon on December 17, the greatest memorial day of the nation, sirens blared simultaneously across the country. Vehicles and locomotives stopped to blow horns and the sound of sirens were heard in all cities and villages and at all units including worksites. All party members, civilians and service personnel simultaneously paid a silent tribute towards the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche where the Chairman lies in state, for three minutes. |
